                                            A quick word
All information you are going to read here, is gathered from various sources and suggestions and put forward here in this publication. You will alsosee my personal view, established through reading many books including of course  the Old Testament!  please see bellow my references Books & Links .  Also views and ideas from other scholars and personal friends as well as people who suggest things in our 'Forum'   are included!
- The whereabouts of the missing Arc of the covenant inspired many to look for clues; James Bruce from Scotland in 1785 did travel to Ethiopia to look for it, all 'Indiana Jones' movies with the same theme and Graham Hancock's book 'The sign & the seal' a book that you must read!
- Definitely there is a lot of information around and it is like a puzzle that waits to be solved! I did try to put some pieces  in place and  'clicking' around you can see a summary of events!
- See if you can get an idea and put some pieces together!!  Drop a line and let me know how you feel about it and if the information makes any sense... The Author Costas Papa
- Looking for clues about the story of Queen of Sheba, I have traveled to Egypt, Jordan and Yemen! In Yemen, where they also claim originality of the story, her name  was  Bilquis and here in Ethiopia was Maqeeba!
I must say that I side with Graham Hancock's suggestions published in his book 'The Sign and the Seal' which I did read several times  and I do recommend it as a good source of information as well as an entertaining and highly interesting book in general!
Finally, History was always a subject that occupied my past time activities, let it be reading, visiting historic places and then try to analyze the various 'hypothesis' or suggestions from scholars or historians scattered in various books and magazines!
Of course not everybody agrees making the clues more difficult to match... What I did,
I have put all information on our dining table and then look at all bits and try to fit them in a chronological order, on a map in location order or matching pieces together because of similarity and because it did make sense! But at the end I did come to some conclusions and leaving the puzzle almost completed!

                                          Subjects to investigate...
Many unsolved ‘Mysteries’ still exist in Ethiopia …
Why has the Arc of the Covenant never been found and why, after the reign of king Solomon there is no further mention in the Old Testament,  about this precious relic?
- The story of the Queen of Sheba as told in the Bible, chronicles 9: 1-12, has plenty of detail and is believed to be true; but where did Queen of Sheba come from?
- The excavations on Elephantine Island in the river Nile in Egypt by a German archeologist Joachim Krekeler, bring to light a Jewish temple the size of the original one build in Jerusalem! Bezaleel Porten, one of the professors studying the excavation there, said that the scrolls found, give us a complete picture of the Jewish community once lived there!
- An accurate account of the father of History Herodotus  tell us about a well known route from Elephantine Island to Ethiopia on 500 BC and the Jews who followed it!
- The life of Moses it's a mystery in itself; it is between legend and history. Flavious Josephus a Pharisee lived in Egypt around 70 AD give us a lot of information in his book about Moses, but a great part of his life is not covered ! Him and some scholars believe, that it is possible that he lived for many years in Ethiopia...
- What is the connection between Chartres Cathedral in France and  Queen of Sheba of Ethiopia?
- What are the links between the Falashas  of Ethiopia (a Jewish community) and the Jews of Israel?
- Who built the remarkable ‘rock-hewn’ Churches in Lalibela?
Many of these ‘Mysteries’ have been much debated and argued about by many historians and scholars throughout the centuries. In these pages you will find some readings and facts from the Bible together with ideas and theories, from academics and scholars as well as my personal views!

Here you can find my references  and a guide of books to read in case you would like to check for your self for more details in depth. Some of these books though, one can find only in libraries.

- The Old Testament, King James authorized Bible.
It was first published in 1611 and for a long time it was 'the noblest
English' literature being a good example among English speaking
people and in public institutions! There were though many serious
   defects in it.
In the middle of the 19th century it has been a development of the
biblical studies and together with the discovery of many ancient
manuscripts made it apparent to call for a revision. The Church of
England took the task in 1870 and in 1881 a revised version was
  published!
American scholars now associated with this work, embodying their preferences, published the 'American standard version' in 1901 !
Later in 1928 an 'International  council of religious education' was
created and appointed a committee of scholars to undertake the need of further revisions. At 1935 this council authorized a revision.
In 1952 significant advances were made after the discovery of the dead sea scrolls in Semitic languages (old Hebrew). Hebrew scriptures and early copies of the books of Isaiah, Habakkuk etc. At the same time early Greek manuscripts become available and the committee of the revised standard version authorized  in 1974 a preparation of a new edition.
Now because no translation was absolutely perfect or was acceptable to all other groups, at the same time more discoveries of more ancient papyri and manuscripts, renewed renderings in the Bible have been necessary!
Up today, committees and individual scholars produced some 26  English translations and revisions!

- The Old Testament, Jerusalem Bible.
The original was written in Hebrew including most books written in
ancient times, some from the famous prophets themselves!  Nowadays
  copies in English are available.
- 'Ethiopia and the Bible' by Dr. Edward Ulendorf
- 'Archives from Elephantine' by Bezaleel Porter

   precious historic relic!
- 'Antiquities of the Jews' written by Flavius Josephus, a Pharisee
who lived in Jerusalem around the first century!
- 'Legends of the Jews' by Louis Gunzberg
